2015 Chairs Announced

The Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that Alison Schmitz will serve as the chairperson of the 2015 University of Okoboji Winter Games. To assist her with the various responsibilities, Ali has chosen Nick Stauss to serve as her co-chair.

Alison and her husband Brad are both graduates of the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa. Ali is a Marketing Analyst at Rembrandt Foods and Brad is a Financial Advisor at Bank Midwest. Ali and Brad are proud parents of a charming son named Landon, age 2, who will be relinquishing his only-child-card in October when his baby brother arrives.

Having served as co-chair of the 2014 U of O Winter Games, this event is near and dear to Ali’s heart. Having participated in the Snowball Softball for many years, Ali is no stranger to the games. She and Brad love the culture of the Iowa Great Lakes and all of the amazing outdoors activities this unique community offers their growing family.

Co-Chair Nick Stauss is a lifelong resident of the Iowa Great Lakes and a graduate of Spirit Lake High School, Nick resides in Okoboji and is a Realtor/Co-Owner at Stauss Realty. It was actually at the 2003 University of Okoboji Winter Games that Nick had his first date with now wife, Carrie, who works in early childhood development. Their adorable daughter Emily turns 9-months old this August.

Nick has been involved in countless facets of the Winter Games over the years and is very excited to host the 2nd Annual Stauss Realty Ice Fishing Tournament during the 2015 games.
